The integrated infrared proximity and ambient light sensor can sense the surrounding light situation and object proximity status, and tell the processing chip to automatically adjust the display backlight brightness or turn off the screen, reducing the power consumption of the product and reducing false touches. For example, in mobile applications such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, etc., where displays consume up to 30% of the total battery power, the use of integrated infrared proximity and ambient light sensors can maximize battery operating time and improve user experience. On the other hand, the ambient light sensor helps the display provide a soft picture. When the ambient brightness is high, the LCD using the ambient light sensor is automatically adjusted to high brightness. When the outside environment is dark, the display will be set to low brightness.

Product Introduction

The LS-9800 is a digital light sensor (DLS) optical module that integrates ALS, PS and IR_LED.
The LS-9800 Digital Light Sensor (DLS) consists of a photodiode array and two wide dynamic range ambient and infrared light sensing channels (LS).
The LS-9800 also includes additional photodiodes and output channels, as well as a factory-calibrated IR LED proximity sensing (PS) driver. Both ALS and PS play their separate roles in 16-bit conversion results.
